January 22, 2010 - Steve Smith, producer and owner of Steve Smith Productions announced today the acquisition of development rights to his longtime friend and business associate Dave Dorman's steampunk trilogy, RAIL.
"I am absolutely overjoyed with the prospect of producing a project I was so personally involved with from the beginning," Smith commented, adding, "If you had asked me last Monday if this could happen, I would have sadly said no."
Smith and Dorman met this week for the first time in nearly two years and within a half hour, both were excitedly discussing the possibilities of bringing Dorman's steampunk series to the screen.
Smith, a writer and producer, boasts a first-look deal with Ralph Winter's 1019 Entertainment. Winter is the producer of all four X-MEN films, both FANTASTIC FOUR movies and Tim Burton's PLANET OF THE APES.
Dorman, internationally recognized artist and storyteller, is known for his involvement in expanding the STAR WARS universe with over 100 classic novel and comic book covers, product packaging, and more.
