The Xenozoic Project
I first read Mark Schultz's XENOZOIC TALES in 1987. It embodied so many of the elements of stories I had loved growing up: dinosaurs, hot rods and great-looking women. Schultz's storytelling benefitted from his impeccable art style. I immediately saw the potential for the big screen, and this was five years before the first JURASSIC PARK movie brought breathtaking dinosaurs to life in a way they had never been seen before.
In 1992, Nelvana brought the stories to the small screen as CADILLACS & DINOSAURS, a short-lived animated series. It was pretty weak and made the creator, Mark Schultz, very leary about granting film rights.
Last fall, when I made the decision to reestablish myself in the entertainment industry, my friend Ralph Winter, producer of the X-MEN TRILOGY, WOLVERINE and the two FANTASTIC FOUR films, offered to mentor me as the industry has changed since my last feature, ALIEN: RESURRECTION, that I worked on in 1996. I wrote a couple of original scripts, but I want a hit. So Ralph and I discussed some book rights I was interested in. There is no other book/graphic novel I want to do produce more than XENOZOIC TALES.
I had a meeting with Mark Schultz on Saturday, May 16th. I enlisted my friend Jon Fuller, who did some of the coolest makeup effects on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER to create a maquette of a character called THE GRITH, a race of intelligent reptilian humanoids. In addition, I presented Mark with an offer to option the rights for a film. As his agent reviews the offer, I intend to continue my plans to produce a presentation reel. My friend Grant Weiss, who was DP on my New Orleans RESTORE video, will be the DP but will also portray the main male character, Jack Tenrec (Grant worked on both BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT as Christian Bale's stand-in).

I am producing this presentation reel on a shoestring. So there is no pay for the talent. However, if you are selected and agree to appear, I personally guarantee that if this goes into production with me producing as a result of this pitch, all talent will have some sort of paid role, though almost 100% sure not in lead capacity, in the feature.
This will be a safe and exciting working environment for cast and crew. All who work on this will be given meals, transportation for a shoot in Michigan, credit in the reel, a DVD copy of the presentation reel for your reel, and well, whatever else I have.
