Percepto Records
Music has always been of particular interest to me, be it as accompaniment for film and television or as performances by artists. Until recently, my involvement in the music industry has been little more than branching off from my film and television merchandising efforts. But in March 2010, Steve Smith Productions acquired Pasadena, CA-based label, Percepto Records, a former producer of obscure film and television soundtracks, to become the label that will launch TURBOVAMPS, THE SELENE GARDENING SOCIETY and more.

Inspired by my personal interest in the steampunk music movement currently in its infancy, I will be enlisting musicians for an avant garde chamber quartet. With the blessing of British author Molly Brown, this chamber group will be called THE SELENE GARDENING SOCIETY after her short story originally published in "The Mammoth Book of New Jules Verne Adventures, Robinson, 2005." A former student of mine, Tiffany Rumsey, a musician herself, will be spearheading auditions for what we hope will be a unique adventure into the world of steampunk music.

Turbovamps! is my son Andrew's band. They recently completed studio work on their first CD with a street date of April 27th, and their cover of New Order's LOVE VIGILANTES was chosen to be featured on CEREMONY: A TRIBUTE TO NEW ORDER, and was released in February 2010 by the 24 Hour Service Station label to benefit the Tony Wilson Foundation.
